Did anyone notice how incredibly stupid the commentators on MSNBC were today?

I know one of the guys from Tennis Channel, I think his name is Jimmy Arias, and I've always thought he was really annoying but at least who knows some things about tennis (I think he's also a former player). The other guy, I don't know what his name was, should not be be a commentator for tennis. It seems who knows almost nothing about tennis besides the basic rules. Probably every other point, he could call the ball in or out, as if he's the referee. I guess he doesn't realize we can hear the linesman making every call. The same guy on one of Novak's serves said, "that's a let, and a fault." Say what? There's no such thing. In the middle of the third set, the guy says something like, "Djokovic's had quite some trouble holding serve in third set, so he needs this point." Obviously he wasn't really paying attention to the match.

The Jimmy Arias guy also infuriates me because he always says what players are thinking during the point, when he doesn't even really know. A good example: He said something like Nadal KNOWS that he isn't going to win the match, unless Djokovic hands it to him. He said this in many forms and at the end he repeated himself, like he's saying I told you so. Both of them also talk DURING the points, mostly about completely useless c**p.

I found myself saying shut the """ up and let me watch the match. Another example of the terrible job these big companies, NBC included, do things their way and don't really know what people want.

  1. Totally dude. It's that guy that says "That's a fault." It's sooooo annoying and it pisses me off so much. Jimmy Arias is better, but Johny Mac is definently my favorite commentator. Sometimes the commentators even talk during the point. Most annoying thing ever.

  2. I think they say those things, because there might be people watching who aren't sure of what's going on sometimes. I don't mind the commentary at all. As long as the commentators aren't continuously talking or making really unnecessary comments, I'm fine with it. Sure, some commentators say awkward things sometimes, but haven't we all said something a little unnecessary at some point? I watched this match, and I found nothing wrong with it or the commentators on MSNBC.

  3. I hear you, man. Commentators distract you during the game if they don't know when to be silent. Let the tennis lovers judge for themselves. There are quite a few pro ? commentators who should not be sitting in the chair, IMO.
