Did anyone out there notice an unusual quality to a thunderstorm on July 27th, in the wee hours (2-3 a.m.)?

I was just east of the Quabbin resevoir in central Massachusetts when I overheard the storm. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced. It woke me up and then I listened intently for the next 3/4 hour or so. Just curious to find out if it was perceived by others as it was for myself. I would like to hear from those that may have heard it before I describe what it was like for me.

i'm not in the region, although I watched a storm system that might've been part of that one on radar.  If you don't want to post yet, would you IM me at weather_geek here on yahoo and tell me what you experienced?  I stay on invisible and accept offline IMs, so you can message.
