Question:

Did anyone read about what Asante Samuel was quoted as saying of dropped picks in the Superbowl?

When asked about his two dropped INTs that would of won the superbowl for the Patriots last year by a Philadelphia journalist he said "I had it... but I didn't want it, through most of that game all I could think of was how I felt I was being treated and how I probably wouldn't be back... so I let it go... I figured "why should I do the work... let the people who will be here next year finish the job" ... when they couldn't finish it though I realized I might of let this slip away and when I had that pick in the endzone I simply couldn't hold on. When the game was over I wished I hadn't let my pride get the best of me first time around and just finished the game when I had the chance."

Oh yeah, Asante? Even if it's just his ego talking I wish he hadn't said it. I hope he plays Friday and somebody drops him at Gillette. I hope he enjoys all that money in the NFC East... money hungry jerk.

  1. Maybe someone didn't hug Billy Buckner enough, too?  What's wrong with you guys in Boston?  You're not sensitive to your athletes feelings.

Maybe he should play in San Francisco, they're a pretty sensitive lot there.  Or maybe New York if he really wants to see what it's like to be treated badly.

But he's in Philly now?  In Philly they boo Santa Claus!  Even Mike Schmidt (who is a God to those people) caught his share of grief in his career.  I can't wait to see how badly he's treated in the "City of Brotherly Love" if he drops an INT in the end zone there.

What a big baby.  This is what happens when athletes get coddled all of their lives and have this huge ego that they are entitled to anything they want.  I love football, but I refuse to idolize someone because he can catch a ball.

  2. Funny, I can't find it.

That, I assume, would be big news.  Can you provide a link?

  3. well if it's all about the money then they shouldn't be playing , in my opinion , the love of the game is the number 1 reason to be playing, but everyone needs to take into consideration , how they are being treated on the team they are on, you get treated good , then you are happy , and if you get treated bad then your not happy , but like i said if they were treated good and still didn't play at their highest level , then no one needs a guy like that on their team , it don't matter who and what team they are on and there are players that actually love the game , just look at Favre , he turned down millions just to play football

  4. So what was the offensive line's excuse?

    Didn't they want it either?

I stick by what I said two years ago...

Curse of the Bambino II - In this case a little Italian kicker let go for money

    Enjoy the next 84 years!

  5. excuse me while i go slit my wrists

  6. it is hard to want to play for somebody that doesn't want you...yeah it was the super bowl, but he was un-motivated based on how the Patriots treated him

I didn't put in 100% effort at work, if I wasn't treated fairly, how is what Samuel did different?

to be honest, Samuel didn't lose that game for the Patriots, the Giants D was just better that day...the Patriots offense, which had been SOOOO good during the year, didn't show up when they needed to.

  7. i thought belichic was supposed to be a motivator

  8. You're right about the fact that - either way - he should NOT have said that below the line comment.

I cannot accept his comment as true, though, but just a post-season "dig" out of frustration.  Why is this?  Because everyone knows the VERY BEST time to augment your salary is coming off a good Super Bowl performance when you're set to a free agent the next season.  It's been done countless times.  With that in mind, he would definitely have known that the best way to not only go somewhere else with another team, and to do it at the highest salry possible, would be with an exemplary performance in the Super Bowl.  It's done every year, and it's why teams have a hard time sustaining top performance franchises.  The teams in the modern era lose their top performers consistently after a Super Bowl win.  Interceptions are instinctive after that many years of training.  If he missed them, then he really missed them. Judging by his ego-driven comments, his ego would have been far too large to not want to add to his personal stats - about the only thing you can "take with you" from team to team.

  9. Seriously it sounds like ego. I mean really he gave up a chance for a ring? He doesn't think he would have made more money if he HAD a ring? He is saying that to p**s off Patriots fans is my guess. Really he is just making himself look bad to me.

  10. It's just Asante being a bad loser. Oh, we could have won the game, but I didn't want to catch the ball. I remember after the (Stupid F@#king) Jets beat the Colts in Super Bowl III, Bubba Smith was saying that the game was fixed because the League wanted the AFL to win one for parity. Who knows what these guys are thinking. Personally, I Like both Asante and Bubba, but I wish, in these instances, that they would shut up and take the loss(es) like a man!

  11. The one during the Giants last drive on the play before the helmet catch looked like my grandmother could have caught it.  It was a bit over his head, but he should have caught it.  If he goes into a Super Bowl with that attitude, Good Luck Eagles.  You need to drop the business attitude and any retaliation/sabotage when you step onto the field.  I am not sure a pro athlete could really do what he claims he did.  Just trying to make excuses, I guess.

  12. All the teams in boston r like that,

i luv the Sox, but they treat the players like c**p ( especially the black ones) it might not be something people wanna hear but it's the truth

    that's why Manny left us

  13. i agree with Asante Samuel he is one of the best CB in this league and he was really treated like c**p up there they franchise tagged gave their money to other players saying really we don't want you here no more samuel get the the h**l out so why would u want to win the super bowl for a team who won't give you the money you deserve and who basically don't want you back.

  14. Wow, what a disgrace. I wouldn't want a douchebag like that on my team.
