Did anyone see an orange bright light moving steadily across the sky in Montreal around 9:30 -10 pm tonight?

At first glance, it appeared to be a plane, but the light was orange and way too bright to be normal. My original thought was that it was a plane on fire. If not, what else could it be? It was not leaving a trail, so it was not a meteoroid or ball lightning, etc. It's bothering me because I cannot figure out what it really was.

  1. The Genesis 2 satellite flew over Montreal at around 9 p.m. tonight, but it was pretty dim (magnitude 4.9).  See the link below for other satellites in your area.  You can see the ISS tomorrow morning and it will be very bright!!!  :-)  (-2.9)

Maybe you saw a fuel dump?

  2. noooo it's not 9:30 yet in here

  3. I'm not in Montreal, but the sky was VERY pink tonight in NY, and it was POURING rain. It was really strange. I've seen the sky turn pink at sunset before, but never when it was raining so hard.

I guess we both saw some weirdness in the sky tonight!

  4. it was superman. :)

  5. might be fireworks it is 4th of july time

  6. no I live minneapolis and I didn't see.

  7. According to the Heavens Above website, between 9:28 pm to 21:39 pm the Resurs 1-4 Rocket passed nearly directly overhead of Montreal. But it should have been dim. Lacrosse 5 passed over at 10.27 to 10.35pm, its a bit brighter.
