  1. Sloppy?  Yes.  Fixed?  Not even.  Would you voluntarily allow someone to turn your cauliflower ear into hamburger?  I mean even if you're getting paid big?  ( o _ 0 ) s***w that!  Kim just lucky and connected with Thompson's ear at the right time.

Lola?  Thompson's ear was a mess.  That's why the Ref called it.  A TKO is called when a fighter is seriously injured.  That was a serious injury.  Thompson's ear was already in bad shape.  To let Kimbo continue to slug Thompson in the ear would have been negligence on the part of the Ref.  The right call was made.

  2. I don't think it was fixed, I think the ref was horrible. He stopped all the fights he reffed that night too early.

  3. I watched all the fights that night. Great fights. The decision that stopped two fights were awful. Bad judgement calls!! The guy that got a finger in the eye should of been given his 5 minutes. Thompson should of gotten his ear drained before he got in the ring. I thought that Thompson would of definately won that fight. I was very upset about the call to stop the fight. These guys are fighters, he was there to fight, let him go on. Kimbo did a good job, he just has to work on his stamina and ground skills. Big guy got out of breath too soon.

  4. Definitely not fixed.  S****y fight but not fixed.

  5. Again, Thompson was trying his best to win the fight. So I can't say that I think the fight was fixed. If it was, the fighters themselves weren't in on it. It's possible the ref was told to allow or disallow certain things. I can see where maybe he gave it a nudge towards Kimbo. Its hard to tell.

  6. I didn't see it I just heard about it.

  7. No. Just bad decision making by the ref. I think he could have let it continue a little longer....either let Kimbo land a few more shots or let thompson recover......he just steped in too soon for me.

I wonder what people make of Kimbo now? He looked awful in that fight, against a guy who has a suspect jaw and lost 6 out of his last 8 fights.

He has ALOT of work to do if he is to fight a top 20 ranked hw. But good luck to him, he works hard enough.

  8. 3 things made me think it was fixed and they happened in all 3 rounds.  The 1st round, Kimbo was in a guillotine submission hold and it wasn't looking good.  All of a sudden the camera jumped from a front-row view to a upper deck view and when it returned to the front-row view, Kimbo had miracuosly gotten out of the hold??? WTF?

The 2nd round, he took so many punches and elbows to his face and head and wasn't defending himself that I believe the ref should have definately stopped the fight.  And in the 3rd round, I think even though that dude's ear was falling off his head, I think 10-20 seconds more to see if he was going to punch back and defend himself was warranted.  Also, Kimbo did NOT tap out in the 1st round.  Look at the replay on youtube and you'll see it was a "thumbs up" because the ref was asking him if he was ok.

  9. I watched it and was not impressed at all. Kimbo clearly tapped out in the first and clearly was not defending himself while getting elbows rained down on him in the second.

I feel the fight was fixed and the ref was paid to keep the fighters standing so Kimbo would have the edge. James had kimbo down in control positions twice and it was stood up. Gary Shaw wanted his star to be undefeated and he paid the ref to keep it that way. Any real heavyweight would destroy Kimbo!

The worst part of this entire event was potential new fans got their first look at MMA that was clearly sub-par. The production resembled WWE more than a true MMA sporting event. Bad and fixed calls is what killed boxing and if EliteXC becomes the face of MMA you can expect MMA to get the same reputation as boxing. Another credible organization (UFC, WEC, etc....) needs to start showing some MMA events on TV!

  10. It seemed to me that the fight was real enough that actual fighting was taking place.
