It's orange, does anyone know anything about it? It looks strange.

That's enough about it, did you get to see it? Never seen one before.

  1. No, nobody saw a solar eclipse, because there wasn't one. Nor was there a lunar eclipse. Try to get your facts right, okay? Only one of your references had anything to do with eclipses, and that was a lunar eclipse in May of '03.

  2. Though many people just love the lunar eclipse, I hate the moon period. I was planning on viewing Jupiter and some galaxies tonight but the sky was so dang bright that I was hardly able to see Jupiter! Oh there I go again bringing everyone down....

  3. There was one on August 1, visible in the Russia - Canada belt.

  4. aweee man i wanted to see it :[

  5. Solar eclipses can only be seen in the day, when the sun is up.

  6. yeah it was tight it was orange

  7. It wasn't an eclipse. It was the Moon being reddened by dust in the atmosphere when low in the sky. There will be a partial lunar eclipse on Saturday, but it won't be visible in the U.S.A.

    Additional note:

Eclipses aren't unpredictable events that people might happen to catch a glimpse of now and again, such as the Northern Lights. The dates and times of eclipses can be predicted with great accuracy. For example, a NASA web page for this year shows the dates of eclipses:

    http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/OH/OH2008.h...

It shows the dates of the four eclipses this year. If something you witness doesn't tie up with one of the dates and times shown, then it isn't an eclipse.
