Did anyone struggle with a fear of storms when they were younger?

I was terrified when I was young due to growing up by a town disinegrated by a tornado.

My son would throw up everytime it would thunderstorm. He grew out of it around 8.

Yeah, I grew up in Tornado Alley too.  Only had to see the result of a twister once to develop a healthy respect for Mother Nature...

I'm a meteorologist, and when I was growing up I was terrified of storms.  Some times the anxiety was so great I would get sick to my stomach.  Its ironic, but many meteorologists have similar stories.  Of course, everyone has different reasons, but my fear was because I was so interested in weather at the same time I knew the potential devastation that severe storms/tornados could cause.
