Did anyone understand that movie called "The Dark" with Maria Bello?

I understood it up until the end when i guess everything was to be revealed. What really happened to Sarah and her mother?

Since it's been almost 24 hours since you posted this question and no one else has attempted to answer it, I will try. The ending to this movie is sooo confusing that many people have written into IMDb with their interpretation of the ending. What I did was to take excerpts from IMDb and give you a link so that you can read more for yourself.  I, personally, am still perplexed by the ending. :)

"I thought Ebrill came back in Sarah's body because she replaced the framed picture of herself and her dad with the picture of Sarah and her dad...and what she says to Sean Bean in the car at the end is what he had said to Ebrill in the hospital."



"The evil from Ebrill came back in Sarah once the mother sacrificed herself to bring Sarah back. Then the evil girl, Ebrill, said that if she wished hard enough whatever she wanted would come true, as Bean had said to her earlier. She wished to have a father, and the mother to be in her play being tortured. So she got Bean as her father, an the shepard walked in to room with the mother at the end fulfilling Ebrill's wish."

"Adele got Sarah back (or at least thought she did) to the land of the living, but was dead herself ("one of the living for one of the dead"), but when "Sarah" started changing the picture and Adele reached for her, there was a not-very-clear shift between the real world and annwyn. With Ebrill being in Annwyn and Sarah being in the real world."

"Ebrill was nice before she came back, so it wasn't just her in Sarah's body. It was her with the evil brought over from the other side. But as explained by that old shepard when one is brought back from the other side they're not the same as before, as they bring back 'the dark' with them, hence Ebrill's presence killing all her dad's sheep (making them ill).

At the end, in the car Sarah mentioned that she couldn't tell her dad what she wished for, but as she now has 'the dark' with her, we (the audience) see that she wished for her mother (whom she evidently despised) to be tortured with those implements as 'the dark' originally done to Ebrill, hence the Shepard behind her, continuing 'the dark' cycle! "
