We have this nasty old cage for my hamster Bailee. She is a female teddy bear hamster. There is this part in the wheel that she escaped in and that same day we were going to get a new cage (we did not know she escaped yet!) Me and my sister were talking about how My hamster escaped one day and then I walked downstairs and saw that Bailee escaped! I walked upstairs again and told my sister ''Speaking of that, I think Bailee escaped!'' My family started looking for Bailee. We put piles of food everywhere! Finally, my dad was looking for her in the utility room and he found her in the insulation! I guess she chose the softest thing in the house! My dad Told me to grab her so I did. I'm kinda glad we glot a new cage that day. The next day, (wich is today!) we put together Bailee's new cage :) Bailee keeps trying to chew through the wires of the cage so I am trying to train her not to! I love hamsters! So, has anything happened to you as crazy as this?

  1. all hamsters chew wires :P

  2. No, let her chew the cage! She will not escape. When I got my first hamster I thought it was trying to escape, but it isn't. A hamsters teeth will keep growing and growing if it has nothing to chew on. So let it chew! If you don't want the cage to be ruined, you can buy some of these:

    http://www.petco.com/product/105845/Smal...

You hang carrots and other food in there and she chews it out.

  3. Wow, that is crazy lol=)  Once I took my hamster named Oreo outside of her cage, and I let her play in my room.  I was on the computer and all of a sudden my dog started barking and dancing around lol.  I went into the hallway and realised that my hamster was sitting on the steps.  My dog saved her life lol.  It's so weird how Oreo could fit through the tiny crack under the door lol=)  I have to watch out for her now haha.

  4. my hamster Ronaldo once escaped when i left his cage door open and somehow he managed to get downstairs and went behind the cooker. Thats where he lived for 5 months until my mum started seeing him in the kitchen eventually we caught him when he was in the lounge. But he is now a fuure father as his wifes babys are due on the 17 july

  5. When I was in 5th grade we had a class pet hamster. When my teacher bought him from the pet store she was driving home and the hamster was being really loud then all of a sudden it got really quiet so the person she was with picked up the box and it had a hole in the side of it and the hamster was running around the car! They got him and put him in a ball they got. Then later in the year, over the weekend He got out  and we couldn't find him for 2 wks. But then we did find him. ( his name was houdini becuz of when we escaped in the car)

  6. My hamster was always trying to escape and was pretty sucessful  sometimes. My dad bought a glass fish tank as a cage because he knew that he would've escaped out of anything else. he put a wire mesh lid on top so he always had plenty of ventilation, but after that he never escaped.

  7. hamsters chew. its what they do.

  8. I would say yes something did happen with my hamster. His name was Pudge (black and white) and when he got out I did not find him untill 6 months later. Also if your going to buy another cage anytime soon buy a Habittail OVO it has no wires for them to chew on and its easy to clean.

  9. What do you mean wires?

    I have a "Rotostack" cage.

I think that is the best for Syrian And Teddy Bear Hamsters!

I think you should sell the one that you just brought and buy a "Rotostack" one.

They are THE BEST EVER x

My hamster which is a Syrian boy never escapes..well only once when i forgot to put one of the lids back on, but that was my fault! :S

You cannot train hamsters to stop chewing, that is what they do, they chew or the other word is "Naw" to keep their teeth down.

    Hope I Helped

    Yours Sincerely

  10. My story doesn't have such a happy ending, but here it goes!

We had a plastic cage and we didn't even know where the break was, but I guess there was one! Our hamster, Cassie, escaped and we tried to find her sooo hard but couldn't. Well, we one day saw a little flash of fur near the oven so we went to go look behind it. We couldn't move it because there was only about a centimeter between it and everything else. When we finally had moved it, it was too late for Cassie. We still don't know how she escaped or how she fit through the tiny opening to get behind the oven!

My other hamster never understood how to use its wheel so would climb up the wire bars of the cage and then run on the top of the wheel. How cute!

  11. One time one of my gerbils got  out 4 times in the same month.  Its was very hard to get it.  She would hop all over the place.
