Did asa die on one life to live?

i watch one life ti live. asa Buchanan (i don't know his real name) 'died' a while ago and i thought that he died in real life. lately hes has been 'on' the show in a flash back type mode. but the interaction with the other characters is either EXCELLENT camera work or hes still alive. does anyone know if hes still kickin?

Asa Buchanan died but his portrayer, Phil Carey is still alive although he battled lung cancer. They wanted to take him off contract and he passed so they killed Asa off.

No I don't know sorry, But I LOVE that show!  I moved about two months ago and don't have satellite yet so I haven't been able to watch it :(

I really hope asa didn't die in real life, He was getting up there in age though.

I will keep a look at all the answers to find out though.

asa the character is dead, but the actor is still alive. he was put on recurring status because of his illness.

They killed Asa Buchanan off he died in his sleep the actor  Philip Carey plays him is still alive but ill with lung cancer

Phil Carey, the actor who played Asa, is very much alive.  He had a bout with lung cancer and is doing very well.  He chose to retire since he's in his early 80's....and he earned his retirement.  Asa Buchanan died in his sleep on the show - apparently from a heart attack.  Nigel found him in bed the next morning.  This happened about a year ago.

So, yes, Phil Carey's still kickin' and recently made an appearance (as Asa ghost) on OLTL talking to Bo.
