In a recent TV interview, it looked like half his face was slightly paralyzed.

  1. Can't confirm this. John Young is often observed to have symptoms which also fit to neurological disorders, like for example autism, but so far, none of this ever got confirmed.

It is likely that this is what make you believe this. So far, all indicates he is still in good health, even after 42 years in NASA service.

  2. No. He didn't. I searched the internet but it didn't say on the internet. If this did happen, I'm sure it will say on the internet.

  3. John Young is hands down the coolest astronaut. No, he didn't have a stroke, he just doesn't show much emotion. He is a veteran of Gemeni, Apollo (walked on the moon), and the first pilot of the Shuttle.

On the Shuttles maiden voyage (remember, it had NEVER been test launched before) Young's co-pilot (Crippon) heartbeat raced to 130 beats per minute. John Young's heartbeat remained a rock solid 90 beats a minute during launch. You can't fake or pretend that kind of coolness!

He is very unassuming. He gives off a first impression as a farm boy who just fell off a hey wagon. In truth, he knows every nut and bolt about the systems and machines he rides, he just doesn't let on.
