Did bayliner put the 2 stroke motor on all the outboard boats in the 1989 year?

i have a 100 hp merc on mine and i don't want to put mix gas in the bank of the boat if they did not put it like that from factory just in case i want to step up to a 4 stroke down the road.

  1. Your motor is a 2 stroke. Some of the motors starting along about that year model had oil injection and had it's own separate oil thank. If it has that then you don't have to mix the oil and gas. If it don't have an oil tank then you do have to mix the oil with the gas at 50:1.


  2. Yes they did. Don't worry about using mixed gas in the tank, if you want to change to a four stroke you will have plenty of time to use up the mixed gas. The little residual will have no effect on the new engines performance.

  3. Yes,  I am not sure but make sure you don't have one of those ill conceived L drives.  I am not sure of the year (s).

    Four strokes are a more current phenomenon.
