Did christy martin ever fight Lucia Rijker?

i remember hearing of a fight scheduled a long time ago..... also, did you feel sorry for Martin seeing the beating she took from Laila Ali? i did, though i feel Christy shouldn't have accepted the fight.

No.  Christy Martin last fought 6-2-07 winning a 6 round unanimaus Decision over Amy Yuratovac.  She is scheduled to fight Valerie Mahfood on 7-18-08.  I did feel sorry for her against Ali as she was clearly overmatched on 8-23-03.

They were going to fight each other a few years back, but Rijker got injured and they never rescheduled the fight.  I did feel bad for Martin when Laila beat her up because before Laila came to women's boxing, Christy was the face of the sport and was considered the best women boxer pound for pound.  She knew that she was outgunned in the Laila fight because she was like 2 weight classes lighter than her, and was at a great size disadvantage; she took the fight because it was a great opportunity for her- biggest paycheck or her career, and the possibility of beating the biggest name in women's boxing as well as the daughter of a legend.  She shouldn't have taken the fight, but at least she got paid well for the beating she took.

christy would have lost to lucia just as badly and not gotten paid as well because only hardcore fight fans know lucias name and skills.

i think she was clever to wait for the ali fight.

No And its a good thing for Christy cause Lucia would smoke her like a cheap cigar. She ducked her in her prime cause she knew it was a lose lose situation.
