  1. when i first brought up the idea they werent happy about it, but i was going to do what i was going to do, they got behind me when i made that clear

  2. My son told me right after he enlisted. I threw my arms around him and told him how proud I was of him. My daughter joined and I was right there with her when she signed up. That was one month after 911 and she was 18. She is now in Guam on her second reup.

I am proud of all our troops. And they have done a fine job. I love to see them in uniform. Makes my heart swell with pride in our country! No matter who tries to bring it down

If you join or plan to I wish you luck and God Speed!

  3. 100%

I was glad my parents were supportive of what I felt that I needed to do in life.

  4. No my parents didn't support my decision to enlist even though my brother had done it two years before. I just told them that this was something I was going to do and then they caved in. Good luck!!!

  5. Your an adult and make your decesion.  They will eventually support you they are your parents and love you and will respect your decesion.

Be proud that you have this in mind.  Not everyone can do the job of being a soldier and being a hero.

    From a fellow military wife.

  6. look man, its your life, if you want to serve your country, then go for it, it is a noble choice, they may not like it probly cuz you'll be fighting, but.. theres no shame in serving your country.

  7. My parents want me to be an engineer, and I'm interested in being a combat engineer in the USMC,i'm a sophmore in high school right now,so its still just a huge consideration. My parents were pretty uneasy because at first,it didn't involve college, and since I'm Indian American (originally from India),most of my people here go for software jobs, military is kinda uncommon,it just got my parents freaked out

Since I go to a college prep High School and get 3.6-3.8 GPAs,college is something I HAVE to do and want to do,I'm hoping to get some engineering degree, bachelors at the least. My parents also definitely want me to go to college. So since college is one path toward being an officer in the military and I have to go to college anyway,my plan is to go to college, get a degree, become a USMC officer and hopefully have an MOS of engineering.I've got a pretty long way,but since the initial goal does also fit with what my parents want, they're somewhat happy with it.I still have a long way to go to prepare physically and mentally though,I started working out a year ago and have come pretty far.

  8. My husbands moms side of his family were all against him signing up. They tried to talk him out of it for weeks and played the guilt game with him also, but my husband enlisted anyway and told them that it was his decision and wanted his family to be proud of what he was doing. After that they came around and now every chance they get talk about how proud they are of him.

  9. yes they did

  10. yes they did.this was after i lost my brother in vietnam.they knew this was my decision.my father enlisted ,as did one of my other brothers.some people have a higher calling.

  11. My parents supported me to enlist in the navy. i am in the enlistmant prosses my self right now, and they are proud that i am serving my country. If you want to enlist think about which branch  fits you the best. my parents are proud of me. yours will be proud of you too. its your life, do what is best for you.
