Thanks for the correction but it was DSOTM not the wall. And to start the music it would be on the third roar of the MGM lion..I guess on vinyl ytou would have to pause and start again... an inconvenience but back then it wasn't - they just did it.....

again it is not "the wall"

  1. Do you have to play it staight through. When they released DSOTM it was on vinyl (no CD's) so you;d have to turn it over.

  2. No.  While timing the two just right will give you some coincidental similarities, they're just that, coincidental.  It was not written to sync up on purpose, and it's not as easy as it sounds to get it to sync up.

It's just one of a very long list of things in which someone "discovers" a relationship between one thing and another.  As humans, we like to make connections between things in our lives, so we tend to form these connections even where they don't exist.

  3. yes

  4. Actually, it was The Wall, not Darkside of the Moon that coincides with Wizard of Oz, and no, they didn't.  Just a coincidence

  5. Other coincidences - Dorothy is balancing on the fence on the farm while the music plays the line "Balanced on the biggest wave".

Also, when Dorothy is between both witches - Glinda and the Wicked Witch - the line from "Us and Them" is "And who knows which is which..."

The song playing during the whole tornado scene is called "The Great Gig in the Sky".

The album cover of "Dark Side of the Moon", where white light turns into a rainbow, is often quoted as a symbol of Wizard of Oz turning from a black-and-white to a color film.

If the album was made to go with the movie, why is the movie 2 1/2 times longer than the album?  Why didn't they make an album that was long enough for the whole movie?
