Will it kill my remaining goldfishes? What does it mean when your goldfish floats or swims to the side or upside down for a very long time, it has been a couple of months now. What does it mean when my fishes' fins look like they have been bitten at or gnawed off?

  1. *  Firstly I want to tell you that when you treat some fungus of your tank then use a half dose if you have scale less fish because they are vey sencetive espeacially the scaleless knife fishes.

No, it doesn't kill your gold fish they are heardy in this case.

    *  Goldfish floats or swims to the side or upside down for a very long time, that means either there are not lot of oxigen in your tank (But I think its not your problem) or its a swim blodder problem and constipation. A swim blodder and constipation problem occurs due to Overfeeding. Don't overfeed your fish, feed your fish maximum twice in a day and maximum 5 to 7 minuts each time. To treat this swim blodder and constipation problem feed them pee and spinach.

    *  I am sure that Siver dollars are the reason of your eatten goldfish fin. Silver dollars are stay better in school. But they are not recommanded with goldfish they nip the fin of your fancy Goldfish. I also face this problrm with my two red cap goldfish.

  2. Fish diseases can be difficult to diagnose at the best of times.  Since you give no details as to your silver dollar's symptoms, it would be impossible to say why it died.

Your goldfish swims upside down/sideways because it has a swim bladder problem.  The causes are varied.

Your fishes' fins look like they have been gnawed off because a) they have been gnawed on, or b) some other reason.

I trust you are not keeping the silver dollars and the goldfish in the same tank.  If you are, that will only be the beginning of your problems.  I'd suggest you invest in some good fish keeping books and keep working on it.  It is a rewarding hobby.

  3. silver dollars have scales.

fungus clear kills off the good bacteria in your tank.  Your tank is now uncycled, and the SD's probably died from ammonia poisoning.  Goldfish tend to be a little more tolerant, but will eventually succumb.
