Question:

Did gas/constipation ever REALLY hurt during pregnancy?

I'm just curious about your experience.

Sometimes I have such terrible gas pains - that literally hurt my hips and pubic bone - so much so that I cannot stand up. I never had that before pregnancy. I was getting worried about it but after I - um - go to the bathroom they totally go away.

I was just wondering if anyone else had this? I feel like my baby is competing for room with my intestines.

  1. LOL yea i have and like you i couldn't stand up. I just laid there and cried. To be honest I do think it's fighting for room. I use babycenter.com it really helps me when trying to figure out whats normal and not.

  2. Oh yah, especially in my 2nd trimester.  I don't know why it was so bad in the 2nd trimester!  I promise it gets a little better!

  3. I'm glad you asked that. Yes! I had gas pains in the middle of the night about a week ago and it hurt so bad I woke my fiance up and was debating going into the hospital. I thought they were gas pains but they never hurt so bad before. My fiance went and got me dried apricots at 1am and about an hour later I was fine.

  4. Well the way I found out I was pregnant was from really bad gas pains. Like I could hardly walk and I would be doubled over but as soon as I would pass gas or go to the bathroom I would be fine. It sucks though!!

  5. Yeah i have really bad gas pains 2 and it will go away hopefully. At first i thought the baby was pressing against some organ lol.

  6. YES! For me it was really more in the first trimester. Since then I've started eating healthier and power walking more and I drink water ALLLLLL day and I haven't really had any problems. But it used to hurt SUPER bad.

  7. about 6 weeks ago I thought I was in labor.  I was having fairly regular contractions and felt like I had to have a bowel movement, which is how it felt when I was in labor with my other 3 kids and the 1 miscarriage I had.  I kept trying to go to the bathroom, but had no luck, which is why I thought it could be labor.  I called my sister in law so she could watch my kids while her brother and I ran to the ER.  Of course, she gets there, and THEN I finally have a bowel movement.  Good thing she only lives a couple blocks away.

So, yeah, I'd say that gas/constipation pains are awful while pregnant!
