Did glucose diffuse out of the dialysis tubing?

I not really understood about the semi plasma membrane

so can anyone help me?

  1. It depends on the size of the pore of your dialysis tubing.

    In an experimental procedure, you take account the size of the molecule that you want to escape or leave inside the tubing.

    Glucose weight is 180.16

    For instance, the available dialysis tubing of Pierce are the following:

    3.5K MWCO

    7K MWCO

    10K MWCO

    Since 180 is less than the size of the cutoff, it will certainly escape the tubing.

    However, if you have hemoglobin in the solution (17,000 Da in size), it cannot get out of the tubing.

    It is known as semi permeable (NOT PLASMA) membrane, because, dialysis tubing allows the escape of a small molecule (ie glucose) but not a big molecule (ie hemoglobin).
