  1. Of course he did, Gomez knew he had no chance to win and was probably terrified that Cotto would kill him. It was like a cat toying with a mouse.

I hope people can see now the different levels of skills in boxing.

Blog - Cotto let him make it to the 5th, he could have ended that fight in the first round. I give Gomez no credit at all for the Gatti win..to say Gatti was even a shell of his former self was giving him too much credit.  Gomez was just there to pick the bones clean.

Cotto = real world championship boxer

Gomez = Reality Tv contender boxer

do the math and you get what you got last night.

  2. He hung on there, it could have been worse.

  3. If anyone didn't notice that he was scared it's because this guy is a real actor,Instead of winning the fight he should had won an Oscar for the Best Actor.

  4. not scared but discuraged. I guess he didnt know cotto was this good untill he got in the ring with him. He knew he couldn't hurt him but he also knew he couldn't just give up. Cotto was better then him in everything .

  5. He showed a lot of heart- but was clearly overmatched.  Seemed like Cotto felt kind of bad for him in the 5th round and was holding back a little bit- but Cotto dominated that fight from the Bell, Gomez was clearly over-matched.

  6. No. Gomez came with his A game it just was not enough.

  7. Maybe not scared.  But just as everyone has said -- realized he was completely outclassed.  That's right -- he may have looked good on Contender and against the over-the-hill Gatti;  but look at what a real world-class boxer looks like.  Cotto showed it tonight -- just like everyone thought.

  8. He went out like a man, that is all that can be expected of a fighter.  He gave it what he had, and gave it his best shot.  I got more respect for Gomez in the Cotto loss than I had for him in his win over Gotti.  No, he didn't look scared, he looked over matched, and he knew it.  It didn't stop him from going out on his shield, and I respect that in a fighter.
