Did hurricane Gustave provide enough of a distraction?

With the democratic national convention as powerful as it was. Was hurricane Gustav a real enough reason for Bush and Chaney to withdraw? Also did it provide enough distraction from the Palin controversy. Forget about her kids. Like Obama says they should be off limits. But with the open investigation against her?

Yes, and thank God we had a natural disaster that destroyed property and took lives solely to get this Palin mess off the TVs.
