  1. the termites thrive when a forest land is harvested for wood

  2. What problem?

    Oh I see ;)

I don't know, I havent heard anything about the place since it happend.  Maybe the UK just genuinely doesnt give a f*ck about US news?

  3. Nope, they all rose above the water line and survived on timberbalaya, pine Creole, and lumber gumbo.

  4. To answer your question specifically, no, Katrina didn't solve the problem, rather it has intensified it.  The Quarter wasn't flooded, but there was/is such a huge amount of buiding debris (mostly wood) piled up following the cleanups and demos it created termite heaven.  Add in the leaching of subsurface termite control agents due to flooding and excessive rainfall, lack of termite control following the hurricanes, and you have the makings of termite mardis gras-lessez les bon temps roulez!

  5. No Katrina did nothing to solve, or decrease any of the Formosan problems. As an earlier ans said it would most likely increase the problems due to the amount of moisture provided to the environment during, and post Katrina. This will provide conducive conditions such as increased wood moisture content for all types of Termites, Sub.. Formosan, and even Dry Wood Termites.

Also as mentioned in an earlier ans. the excessive amounts of water due to flooding, rains etc.. would cause issues with previous Termite treatments. Such as chemical degradation, and destroying most of the different types of termite baiting matrix used in the French Quarter.

But rest assured some of the top minds in the pest control industry are working together to protect such a wonderful place. I wish the general public knew what kind of attack the French Quarter was under due to these little wood devouring creatures.

  6. The French Quarter wasn't flooded.

  7. what a cool question as I work for a major Pest Control company I will contact a manager from that area and hope to get a good answer for you,I personally would think that any area that would have been flooded for any length of time would harm the colony and /or even kill the queen off if the colony was submerged for a long time
