I will be a sophomore in high school this year. Before my freshman year of high school i moved from an inner city school to a posh, fast paced, high standard school district. I was used to doing well at the inner city school but at my new school my grades were not as high as i would like them to be. I received one C in honors physics, i had 2 B's and 4 A's. However i was in a bunch of really good extra curricular activities and took three honors classes. This year i am taking 5 honors classes. If i work supper hard and bring up my grades, do well on my SAT's and continue my exta carriculars and keep up my voulenteer work can i salvage my chance of getting into a good school?

  1. ACTs are what matter. 36 is the highest score you can get. SATs just tell the schools what they need to focus on with the students. They get more grants if they have high scores for certain subjects. My husband got a 33 on his ACT and Dartmouth offered to pay his entire 4-years.

I think you take ACT's in the 12th grade.

  2. oh, yeah. don't worry

  3. I got into a good school with A's and B's, and a decent SAT score, and no volunteer work.

I hate when people say "will I get into a good school" it sounds like you're saying other schools suck.

  4. I honestly believe you will get into an ivy league school....keep up the good work

  5. Yes, I think you will be ok if you continue to do well. Getting average grades at a good high school is about the same as getting good grades and an inner city school.
