I know, go to a doctor, its sunday so i cant, im going tomorrow, just want some opinions.

Visible bruise on top of the foot, only a little swelling. When i'm resting no pain, but when i walk i can't put any weight on the 1st metatarsal. It happened during Football (American) practice when my foot got stepped on, i shook it off, but now i gasp everytime I forget and put weight on it. Opinions?

  1. Could be broken.  No way to know without a xray.  No problem waiting until tomorrow.  Even if it is broken one day will not matter. If it is broken most are treated with a hard soled shoe or boot to limit bending of the foot.

Probably good to know if it is broken or not so you don't go out and do too much too soon and injure the foot further.

  2. Go to the emergency room!!  the bruise is typically the sign of a broken or fractured bone. If you have crutches use them and don't bear any weight until you get x-rays.

    good luck

  3. Sometimes in the metatarsals you can get a stress fracture that doesn't actually appear on x-rays for several days.  You may have one of these stress fractures, the best thing you can do is to keep your foot elevated (to prevent swelling), don't put weight on it (if you have crutches use them) and of course the most obvious, is see your doctor as soon as possible for an xray.  Good luck
