I ordered Intel Core 2 Duo, in the system information its written

"Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)"

What does this mean?? Did i get what I ordered??

I run XP Pro in my pc which shows the initial progress bar(that blue progress bar, during the boot time) 10 to 11 times which is too much i guess.

I asked for 1GB DDR2 Dual Channel SDRAM. I have 2 GB now, but stil not worth a new pc.

Please help

  1. since you are asking this question, i wouldnt recommend entering your bios as you can easily mess things up.  Try downloading and running CPU-z from here:  http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

run it and it will let you know exactly what cpu you have.  I dont recommend anyone that doesnt know what they are doing to mess around in the bios.  If you dont know what fsb and multiplyer mean then just run cpu-z.

  2. When the computer boots, press the F2 key (or whatever it says on the screen) to enter the BIOS setup.  In the bios it will tell you what CPU you have in your system.  A Pentium 4 is NOT a Core 2 duo, but windows may not be detecting it properly.  If the BIOS says Pentium 4, you've been ripped off, if it says Core2 Duo, you have the right CPU... What windows detects it as doesn't matter.
