My threw a fit over taking Shady to school on Friday. I told him No, I don't want you to lose him and he's to big to fit in your backpack. He cried and said "Look no he's not I'll show you an example." I told him "Joshua the answer is no." Don't ask again. He said after crying....What about all the little webkinz. I told him "If you can change your attitude and be a good boy until friday morning then I might consider letting you take ONE of the little webkinz but you are NOT taking Shady. *cry again* i said Do you want me to keep all of them? No, he stomped off to his room, I said bring them back so I can put them in my room, No, Mom I"m going to put them away.

he came back and I said "You woke up in a bad mood, you need to change it and put a smile on your face and stop being grumpy, nobody's going to want to play with a grumpy kid." I told him "If you don't cheer up and stop being mean and saying "I dont like you your so mean blah blah" THen I'm going to keep all your webki

  1. Yes, you did fine.  You made a decision and stuck with it.  I see a lot of parents who make decisions, but don't follow through.  You did good, mom!

  2. Umm, I think part of your question got cut off b/c it was so long.  I think you were right as a parent to not let your son take his toys to school.  Most teachers don't want the students bringing toys anyway because usually they cause nothing but problems (not working/not wanting to share/etc.).  As a former kindergarten teacher, I can tell you that I HATED when parents let their kids bring stuff.  Plus, you are right about him losing it; kids are irresponsible for the most part when it comes to keeping up with stuff.

You also asked him to bring them to you to keep in your room - I do something similar with my girls.  Sometimes, if they don't share or they don't put something away like I told them to, that toy goes in "time out".  That hurts them worse than me putting them in time out because they can still play but can't play with that.

Good luck - and stick to your guns!  You're the parent.

  3. Who is "Shady"?

I think you did a good job.  Some parents would have spoiled the kid and let him have his way.

  4. Ya u did good. You told him why he can't take it and u told him that a punishment would happen if you didnt stop. Nice job :)

  5. for the most part you did good.  But you shouldn't threaten a child over his mood.  It is perfectly fine for him to be completely pissed about not getting to do this, as long as his BEHAVIOR is acceptable.
