Question:

Did it rain on your wedding day?

We're getting married Sunday and rain is on the forecast. It's sort of a bummer because we're supposed to be getting married outside. I'm not too sad about it because it may not rain but still it's a little damper [no pun intended]. I'd get married in the rain but I don't think my guest would like that! =]

  1. Yes, it rained the morning and afternoon of my wedding day. We had an evening wedding though - and by that time the sky was clear and perfect and we had the outside wedding we'd planned.

Oh my gosh, to comment on what someone else said about rain being a fertility blessing....let me just say- I got pregnant 13 days after our wedding day...so yeah I would believe that!

  2. I went to a wedding with very light rain on the day of the wedding. The bride found this out a couple of days before and so bought 15 red umbrellas from one of those discount stores (she said they were $3 each because she bought so many). The pictures looks really nice with the guests holding all of these red umbrellas. I did speak to a couple of people at the back that found it hard to see though...

Another option would be to see if you could put up a few market umbrellas or a marquee- although these can be expensive.

  3. yep it rained .... and it is good luck

  4. LOL -no - we were in Las Vegas in the middle of the desert, and it was hot as a crotch.

Don't worry.  One of the prettiest weddings I went to was an indoor wedding on a day that it was raining cats and dogs.  The photographer took an unbelievably cute picture of the bride and groom under an umbrella -- so cute, in fact, that they sent it out as their Christmas card that year.

  5. nope but it snowed...got married March 12th, 2005

  6. Mine was outside, and no it didn't rain.

  7. It drizzled all day. As we were leaving the reception, the drizzle changed to snow.

No one minded but our wedding was indoors and so was the reception. Many of our out-of-town guests were surprised to see snow in November in Texas. It left us with unique memories and leaving-the-reception photos.

  8. Our extended forecast isn't showing rain but really I don't care if it rains on our wedding day. I actually think it would make for some really cool pics, LOL.

Yes it is supposed to be good luck :)

Buy some umbrellas from the dollar store if you can afford it or just send out a quick announcement stating it may so bring umbrellas just in case.

I would stand in the rain for a friends ceremony.

  9. It raided all day and stopped 30 minutes before my ceremony. No joke!

It didn't rain the rest of the day, it was beautiful.

The forecast said rain all day and night!

    It was a miracle.

Anyways, it doesn't matter what the guests think! They will sit there for you.

Go for it, a ceremony might be cool in the rain!

You could set up umbrellas in the aisles for your guests. I saw a cute wedding where at the end of the chairs there was a cute little bucket with umbrellas. It was a nice touch and realistic.

  10. Yup, it rained, but we got married in England so it would not have occurred to us to get married outside! Have you got a marquee or a gazebo? If it pours your guests will get soaked otherwise.

  11. I HOPE it rains on my wedding day! In my family, we believe that if it rains on your wedding day, the sky sheds all the tears that you would have otherwise cried during your marriage. Good luck and let it rain!

  12. No rain, it was beautiful and sunny with a slight breeze. Ours was outside as well. August 2nd, 2008

  13. Rain is really good luck for weddings! It ensures good health and some believe it is a fertility blessing (hmmm!) Good luck!!!
