Did max baer kill someone?

i heard he killed someone during a boxing match. is that true? who was it against?

Yes Max knocked out Frankie Campbell who died from the head injuries suffered from their bout.  Later Ernie Schaaf suffered a bad beating and was knocked out by Baer.  Schaaf fought Primo Carnera his next fight and knocked out by a jab and later died.  It is believed that the injuries that Schaaf suffered from in his bout with Baer actualy caused his untimely death.

Just to clarify the first answer:  Max Baer WAS NOT a bare knuckles champion.  He fought in the 30's about 50 years after the bare-knuckles era.  

He did kill Frank Campbell and it is speculated that the beating from Baer led to the death of Ernie Schaaf.  But unlike "Cinderlla Man", Baer was not proud of this.  He was a very jovial and good-natured guy.
