Did my 2008 NFL fantasy draft go well?

Here is the layout. Default yahoo league rules. 1QB 3WR 2RB 1TE 1K 1D. I am in a 10 person private league. I was randomly selected for the 7th draft position out of 10. Here is what I managed to get.

QB: Carson Palmer

WR: 1. Terrell Owens 2. Chad Johnson 3. Calvin Johnson

RB: 1. Brian Westbrook 2. Willis McGahee

TE: Antonio Gates

K: Rob Bironas

D: New England Patriots

Bench: QB: Jake Delhomme WR: Laveranues Coles, Reggie Brown, Isaac Bruce RB: Thomas Jones, Fred Taylor

For my first 5 selections I went WR/RB/RB/WR/QB then I filled out from there.

How would you rate my over all draft? Would you consider it a successful one?

  1. I think so you did get good QBs but i would have gone RB/ QB/WR/RB/WR

  2. That's a great team.  You're very lucky that Westbrook fell to #7.  Who went before him?

You're solid at every position.  You have a top-3 RB, a top-2 RB, and great filler at the other starting positions like RB2 and QB.

I'm not totally sold on either Carson Palmer or Calvin Johnson for this year, but you have enough talent to make up for it, especially at RB and WR.  And you never know, they could both have huge years.  Palmer certainly did in 2005 and not a lot has changed since then.

If I were to offer one piece of advice, it would be to trade either Palmer or Johnson.  They are going to live or die together for fantasy purposes and I wouldn't want to have two players riding on that roulette wheel.  If it were me I would trade Palmer.  But even if you leave the team just like it is you will do very well.  9/10.

  3. Wait... you got Westbrook in the 2nd round? The people in your league are clearly not that bright. You have a good team. If the Bengals offense gets it together, you'll have a great team.

  4. Brian Westbrook at 7th is a steal. I had the 3rd and made it late to the draft, so Steven Jackson was automatically taken. If I was there I would have taken Westbrook.

Your RBs are great, because McGahee will be the only offensive weapon in his team.

T.O. and Chad Johnson are outstanding.

In many leagues Carson Palmer is the 3rd QB after the obvious choices (Manning and Brady).

Antonio Gates is basically a 4th WR.

  5. im doubtful about palmer and calvin johnson and willis mcgahee and mainly about NE DEF. but i love ur other guys so u should overall b happy with ur team
