I talked to my friend and he gave me good advice gaining and toning tummy muscles. It's wrong to go on a diet and making you're self skinny. I heard that running won't tone you're muscles, just makes you lose weight AND muscles.

My friend told me NOT to go on a diet if i want more obvious looking great abs... he also told me to eat a lot of white meat... from chicken and steak...

I don't get it, was my friend trying to say i need to be fatter???? or was he really giving me good advince? who should i listen to???

  1. Lol either your friend is jealous of what you have or he has no clue on what he is talking about. When you run lose very little  muscle, you do lose weight but it's the fat that will hide your abs and your toned arms so running is very good but if your more considered about your abs than arms running is 100% perfect for you. .What your friend  means "fatter" i I think he means more muscular hopefully and to get that toned body you need protein .Eat eggs, chicken, lean steak, beef etc but remember that means no deep fired sweet and sour chicken too. You should never get fatter, never, if you want to get more toned you should do a lot of exercises and have good food choices in life. You don't need a whole scheduled diet all you really need is to stay away from sugar, pop, chocolate, fried foods and fast foods. You should start drinking a lot of water and start getting more exercise.Remember to try to eat whole grain bread but make sure to eat a lot of bread and carbs. Yes that's the way to get muscle and not fat so don't listen to your friend on his advice.

  2. I see where he is coming from with he diets part... Especially fad diets. The thing about diets is that so few people know how to handle them. If you're trying to make your abs more obvious, you should eat more proteins, as well as whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Eat everything in moderation. Also, try doing a few crunches every day in addition to the changes in your eating habits.

By the way, steak is red meat, not white and the proper grammar for the question is: "Did my friend just tell me to get fatter?"

I don't think he's setting you up for weight gain, either. I'm not sure I understand where he is coming from about the running thing. I know it will build leg muscles, not to mention it's good for your heart and therefor will make it easier to exercise and lose excess body fat. You do need some though.

Try eating lots of little healthy meals instead of a few big ones.

  3. Well, your friend is correct about running causing you to lose muscle, any cardio except HIIT (High intensity Interval Training) will cause you to lose some muscle.  That's one reason you should do HIIT.  It is also the most effective cardio for fat-loss.

Technically a diet is the foods you consume throughout the day, but anyway, you should definitely start eating healthy if you want to tone your abs.  People should be eating healthy, period.

Everyone has a six-pack, some people just have it covered under fat, so if you want it to show, consume a diet low in calorie fats and carbs, and high in protein.  Avoid junk food and processed foods.  Consume lots of water and have 5-6 meals a day to speed up your metabolism.

White meat is fine as long as it isn't processed, the meats you should be having are lean meats, like turkey and fish.  I don't know if your friend was telling you to get more fat, but even if he was, that's not good advice.  Gaining weight is perfectly fine if it is done in a healthy manner.

    Best of luck!

  4. muscles won't make you fat, because it's not fat you will be gaining.

but running does give you muscles.

your friend probably thinks you need to tone up.
