Did my parents get my economy stimulus money??

i copied and pasted that. what doesnt make sense is that i got a seperate letter way before the checks were coming out.

The letter you got back in March was just general information.  And it said you MAY BE eligible for, not that you would be.

Dependents don't qualify.  If you were age 17 or over as of the end of 2007, your parents didn't get extra stimulus money for you either - that's only for parents of kids under age 17.  But if they had, it would be theirs, not yours - they do support you.

If your parents can (and obviously did) claim you as a dependent, then yes, they got 'your' check.

Which, was really never yours, if you are living at home.

Dependents will not get the rebate. Your parents will not get extra for you as you are over 16 in 2007. You may get rebate when you file your 2008 tax return.

If your parents claim you as a dependent, you will be ineligible for the rebate, but you may still benefit under the plan.

While the rebate depends on your 2007 status and income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, taxes would be cut in 2008 from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

So if you have taxable income in 2008, you will see a tax cut when you file in 2009.
