Did my sushi wrapper go bad? will i die?

you know that seaweed that wraps around sushi?

well, there is some in my kitchen cabinet ready to be cooked but i dont know if its gone bad because its been up there so long.

its brown. and usually seaweed is green. is it okay if i eat it or will i die?

  1. No, you won't die.

    Usually when the color of nori has been changed, that means it's not as fresh. But that doesn't mean that you can't use it. In Japan, we usually make Nori Tsukudani (Nori Paste) from the nori that has been expired. And the color of the kind of nori has been changed to a reddish or purplish color.

    Anyway, you won't usually die from eating the kind of nori. But if you are too scard of using it, just discard it.


  2. The seaweed probably oxidized, but likely won't hurt you.  You will die (eventually) whether you eat it or not, but it will not be the cause of your death (unless you choke on it).
