  1. Yes.  It is said she was a big fan.

  2. No. Elizabeth I and William Shakespeare never actually met in person, nor did she ever attend any of his plays. In fact, William Shakespeare was not considered "the greatest writer in the English language" until much later after his death. In others words, he became famous and his works were discovered when he was long gone.

Note: Shakespeare plays were performed at the Globe Theater, however, Elizabeth would have entertainers come into her own court to perform in front of her. William was a respected poet and playwright in his own day, however, his reputation did not receive the popularity at court as you would have imagined.

  3. There's a tradition that she did, that (like other high-ranking viewers) she sat on the stage, and that once she walked across it in the middle of a scene and dropped her glove--and that Shakespeare, acting in that scene, stopped to pick up the glove and ad-libbed an appropriate line.

  4. I think so because apprently he wrote 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' for her.

  5. I know that she attended at least two but I do not remember which ones they were.

  6. No Shakespeare attended to Queen Elizabeth if she wanted to see his plays.

  7. Yes, she did.

  8. No.  They never met or spoke.
