  1. no, they were ficticous characters. If you watch closely on the scene where she pays a dime for him to draw her naked, the dime is an "eisenhower" dime. Eisenhower was 22 at that time and a cadet at West Point. The dime that should have been used should have been a "Mercury" dime, which was the type of currency used in that period.

  2. Jack, Rose, Cal, Ruth, Brock Lovett, Lovejoy, Fabrizio, and Tommy Ryan were all fictitious. The most prominent real-life characters mentioned by name are multimillionaire John Jacob Astor and his wife Madeleine, Ben Guggenheim (the guy who dresses in his best and asks for brandy), Margaret ("Molly") Brown (although in real-life her nickname was not Molly, but Maggie), the Countess of Rothes, Colonel Gracie, Sir Cosimo and Lady Duff Gordon (who really did design lingerie), the ship's architect Thomas Andrews, White Star Line president Bruce Ismay, and the captain and crew members. Isador and Ida Strauss (the old couple shown lying on the bed near the end) are shown but not named, as is Charles Joughin (the baker on the railing with Jack and Rose). Arthur Ryerson is named but not shown. Robert Douglas Spedden is the kid spinning the top on the promenade deck, a scene based on an actual photograph taken en route to Queenstown.

  3. No.  They were fictional characters placed in a historical situation like a lot of movies.

  4. No, Jack and Rose are fictitious.

If you want to learn more about the Titanic, read "A Night to Remember" by Walter Lord, then see the movie of the same name. I think you'll be struck by how much James Cameron probably relied on this book when he made "Titanic."

  5. Yes, it was based on Rose's story...Im not sure if that was her real name (or his for that matter) but it was based on her real life experience on the titanic. I watched a documentary on it, and they interviewed the real 'Rose'
