  1. I'm Australian and I think he played the Australian role poorly ,although that is just my opinion. There wasn't enough aussie slang used like "mate, bloke" etc to convince me he had a vocabulary similar to that of an Australian. The accent was average, in my eyes Stiller, Black and Downey all sounded very much the same. However some Australian values, attitudes and beliefs were shown - such as mateship (when even though Downey and Stiller had argued, Downey pulled through for stiller when he was being held hostage). Also the laid back attitude adopted by many Australian of the "shortest way is the best way" was used by Downey. I think there were a few instances that resembled typical australian arguments. This is a stereotypical ideology, this being that Australians think they're right all the time and this was present during the conflict over interpreting the map and several other instances. So while I think the use of original Aussie language was pretty sad, some attempts to portray Australian based themes were used. But a main factor relating to our history would have to be our wording and this is not shown, certainly there could have been improvements and I believe he did not play an Australian based character adequately.   Thanks for asking!
