Some how he took advantage of the Turmoil in those days, not only he wanted To rule the country indefinitely but by trying to end with certain problems, he ended up having a lot more,  and he always look for his own pocket.

Bureaucrats loved him, since he always saw a way to paid them almost in time.

Catholic Church, support him in many occasions but later they where betray by him and  Santa Ana took a lot of money from the church that was never paid, in fact when the "Mexican War" happened the USA had a secret partner, the Church proclaim in favor of the invasion during mass. not only the American but any foreign invasion.

Indians (60 % of the pop) also wanted the government to fall since Santa Ana took big advantage of their situation.

Santa Ana was a  Political Pragmatic epitome. he always took advantage of some body Else needs and his circumstances., some Mexican Historians say that he couldn't´t do more than that at that time, since the country was really a big mess..but no in my poor opinion he only look for his own interest.
