Did the Amazonian head hunters really shrink the heads of their enemies?

  2. The Shuar people of the Amazon Forest do not shrink heads today nor have they done so in at least 60 years. But they used to cut the heads of warriors that where killed during battle separated the scalp from the skull and "cook" the skin with a few plants that helped preserve it. Later they would remold features and dry the head with smoke. All this was done to "substitute" the Arutam, one of the souls of the Shuar.
