For those of you who will say that "Slaves aren't here anymore," how do you feel about the apology for Jim Crow laws that kept African Americans from buying property, going to certain schools, etc? And also, was the apology to Japanese Americans for internment during WWII appropriate or not?

  1. They do not speak for me. Myself, and all my ancestors since they immigrated to the U.S. never owned any slaves. Why should I apologize for something that my family never participated in?

  2. exactly how did this benefit former slaves, children, grandchildren or even greatgrandchildren of slaves?  Just a meaningless gesture by congress to make themselves "feel good"; you know, like they're actually doing something.

  3. dunno

  4. jim crow won't accept an apology...It was ignorance that labeled blacks second class citizens...and the ignorant today still think the same way...The House is not doing the work of the citizens who elected them...and frankly they should be censured for trying to focus again on the past...Under the current regime we can expect the house to apologize for our current woes sometime in the year 2058.

  5. time to forget the past apology might help but I think it stinks of Money and lawsuits .The perpittrators are dead as the victims .who is left to appologise too and from

  6. It was a waste of time.  Congress should have spent a little time on the economy or alternative fuels....

But no, we had to make a non-binding resolution offering an official apology that means little to anyone.
