I feel they should of kept him as a back up to Brett Favre.

  1. no

  2. They should have shipped Pennington before this season.  He was a lame draft choice  and it was Marvin Lewis' desperate need for somebody at a QB that made Pennington appear to be an adequate QB.  If Favre fails to deliver the goods, the decision to release Pennington stands as great long term decision for the Jets.  How many teams were beating down the Jets door for a bid on Pennington?

  3. YESSS i always thought chad sucked!!

  4. Well yes and then no. Yes because, Chad had that bad shoulder and he hasn't been the same since. Brett Favre has a strong arm and is more durable.

No because Brett's 38 years old and you don't know how many good years he has left in him.3-4 years tops.

  5. Yes because brett favre is old as heck

  6. they did it because of money.......Pennington was set to get 6 million this year I think and they couldn't pay both him and Favre...And why have two starting quality QBS on the same team.    Its good for Pennington because several teams are interested in him and I would expect somebody will grab him in the next 24 hours.   Hes too good to be a backup.   All you have to do is look around the league and see about half the teams have QBS that are like a # 2 and not a starter.   I wish Pennington all the best.   I hope he goes to the Vikings.

  7. You sure are correct ! The Jets will be lucky to finish 8-8 this season. Favre should have been re-signed by the Packers, that's two games the Lion's would have won. He's at the tail end of a great career. He's going to emberass himself.

  8. Kellen Clemens will be an adequate backup, and is going to learn a ton from Favre.

Releasing Chad and his $6 million was a good idea, as he'll never play. Brett Favre literally needs to be injured to the point of being physically unable to play to be "knocked out". He's played with a broken thumb more than once, on his throwing hand no less. A severely sprained ankle, a concussion, his father dying the night before... and he seems to produce even bigger numbers those games.

That guy practically needs to be dragged off the field.

    So, yes.

Check out my link and compare old #4 to the last EIGHTEEN Jets QBs. 'Nuff said.

  9. I don't think it mattered which QB they released...Kellen Clemens or Chad  Pennington...I think that they thought that Kellen Clemens would have more potential in the future though...

  10. yeah they have the greatest quarterback of all time and a backup that is still good.

  11. yeah i feel they had to for the simple reason that Favre provides a reliability that most QBs dont have and Chad is used to playing as a starter and who knows Chad might go to the Vikings or anywhere else outside of the Jets and get more playing time and show that he his a good QB that gets underestimated and Jets see Chad and Brett ...one has a couple more years left in greatness and one is a solid player that could use a change so the jets think why not just milk the last TDs from Favre and help the team out in the process
