I personally think the overachieved. I still don't know how they were able to get to finals. Especially without a healthy Trevor Ariza. Or Andrew Bynum.

  1. Overachieved for sure.

  2. The Lakers get on their high horse when they start doing exceptionally well. BIG HEADS !! Don't get me wrong I love the Lakers but they could of and should of won the title last season.

Let's see what happens this season. I think if they deflate their heads they will win the championship!! After all they won 3 titles in a row.

    GO LAKERS!!

  3. Overachievers

  4. over. most analyst had them fighting for the 8th to 6th seeds.

  5. We're the Greatest Team of All Time!

Didn't you see how we whipped Boston by 24 points?

  6. Overachieved.

  7. well nobody predicted or expected the lakers to be the #1 seed so they really overachieved.

  8. absent the Gasol trade they were not on pace to have a great season...SO I think they actually overachieved considering the injury to Bynum offset the acquisition of Gasol and the net was they probably ON PAPER shouldn't have been IN the Finals...BUT as Red pointed out "they don't play on paper, they play on hardwood"..lol!

  9. I believe that they overachieved the entire season, that is, until the finals. The Lakers in my mind could have won the Finals, but i don't think anyone was into the game as much as Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson were (those are two of my most favorite basketball players/coaches in my mind). Had Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol and Luke Walton all stepped up instead of being pushovers to the Celtics (which I am not saying is easy, but it is possible), the Lakers could have beaten the Celtics. So when it came time for the finals, i think they underachieved. But overall, they did well

  10. Neither. They're the best team in the West. They went to the Finals and got beat by a better team.

  11. they overachieved until they got gasol, then they did what they were supposed to do.  they had the easiest road to the finals in the west.  being that number 1 seed was important in the west, because of the matchups.  they had to face a spurs team who went through hard series to get there adn that was the lakers only tough team they faced in their conference.

  12. Corey,

Injuries are part of the game.  If Yao was healthy who knows.  If Bynum wasn't hurt, they wouldn't have gone out and got Gasoft.  But the Lakers under achieve coming into the Final.  They were they heavy favorite and like someone here said, they let it got into their head.  They found out that they weren't that good after all when compared to the East.

  13. Depends on wat time. if u mean durin da offseason where kobe wanted a trade then h**l yeah. NOBODY thought dat he would still be on da team or get mvp or make it 2 da finals. but people always gonna hate on kobe 4 some reason.

    OVERACHIEVED

  14. Overachievement for the lakers is an understatement. Even though they didn't win the championship, they entered this season as a 7 or 8 seed. With no real changes, the "Kobe mishap" and Bynum's injury they have come a long way. They were also the only team that made a major mid-season trade that was able to build chemistry and play great ball.

  15. I don't think they overachieved.  They were just lucky and got a boatload of bullcrap calls going in their favor, for example the one at the end of the final regular season game against Golden State.

That team had NO business playing in the NBA Finals, as was made painfully obvious in the six games against Boston, and the Laker fans should be thankful both to god and to the higher-ups in the NBA that they even made it that far.
