I got a letter back from Buckingham Palace from a Lady in Waiting saying that although she couldn't reply personally, she wishes me luck in college and was interested to hear an American teenager's views on the relationship between our two countries....was it really read and commented on by her?!

  1. Obviously it was, or the lady in waiting wouldn't have said so. The Queen never personally replies to all the mail she gets, but she certainly does read the interesting letters and dictates a reply.

  2. From what I've heard, the Queen receives so many letters that her secretaries have to make a selection of the most interesting to show her personally and simply summarise the rest.  I'm sure that yours was of interest to her, as so few people write on that subject and she has grandchildren of your age group.
