  1. Clearly the Intel showed that the WMD was there and Saddam was trying to get more. Right up till 2003 Democrats were talking about the threat of WMD in Saddam's hands. So they believed and several intelligence agencies world wide believed it too.

  2. I believe Saddam was bluffing and that he used the WMD as a wild card to keep other nations from invading. I mean he had some pretty powerful nations surrounding him. At one point he did invade Kuwait and in doing so Gassed hundreds of people with type of chemical weapon which was banned from use according to the reports from the 80s during Bush Sr time. Which proves that he was willing to use what ever he had at his means. He knew Bush Jr. was about to invade so why wouldn't he use them as we landed?

It was a ruse and we thought Iraq would be an easy take over, make us look like the super power we used to be, and the rest of the surrounding nations would abandon their nuclear ambitions.

Also note Iraq is a perfect tactical position when you factor a growing power of the nation of Iran. Iraq bases by the US would greatly serve as a defense of Iran invasions and block a land offense to our allied partners in that region.

  3. He was looking for a reason to go into iraq from day one in office.

  4. no it was there they just cant say it ,like all those insurgents coming in if they knew we had wmd's don't you think it would have cost more lives ,really ,strategy's states don't let your opponent know what you have

  5. The WMD's were there, as were components to manufacture more.

The U.N. "inspectors"  looked the other way when near the WMD installations and component storage depots.

The intervening timespan before the second 'look' gave _plenty_ of time to move those weapons and parts to other places in the region which were not 'under suspicion'.

President Bush did what had to be done.
