  1. No. The only contact between Asia and Europe at this time was via the Silk Road. Warfare was precluded by geography. It was simply too far to move an army and maintain supply lines. It took modern technology to allow long distance warfare.

  2. No, never.

The Roman Empire's most eastern colony was Assyria (now Northern Iraq), this was under Emperor Trajan in 114AD.

The Chinese empire never really extended past Eastern Turkestan (Central Asia), so the Chinese and Roman empires were seperated by thousands of miles, and also seperated by many other nations such as Persia,Sogdia, Bactria, India, Siam, the Khmer Empire.

In fact the Chinese never did battle with the Egyptian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian or Greek Empires either.

They did come into conflict with the Arabs in the middle ages to a small degree, and later still with European Empires, mainly the British.

  3. First guy's right, contact was very limited.

China did not even know the Romans existed.  Rome only knew they sent their silver east, and important spices and silks came back.  But by the Middle Ages, though, China did know of the Eastern Roman Empire, which (as the Muslims did), they called the Kingdom of Rum.

  4. No. they barely knew each other

But it's been a very popular discussion topic, arguing who would win if these two superpowers in ancient times went to battle

  5. They never did battle, but some believe that a handfull of Roman soldiers made it to China by accident and they lived, worked and even became soldiers for the Chinese. Just search Li-Jien online and you should get some info about this

  6. Tuche to the above answer, he is infact correct.

  7. No - the distance was too great and I think that the Parthian empire was in between. Would make for an interesting novel tho!

  8. NO WAY, they knew of each other throg htrade links, more stuff moved between them than we think, i believe one or two brave Romans did go there but i think they stayed and intergrated, as it was too dangerous to go back.
