  1. no, turiaf was a restricted free agent and the lakers let him get bought out by the warriors

  2. No, Ronny Turiaf signed an offer sheet laid out there by the Warriors. The Lakers had 7 days to match which they did not do, thus Turiaf is now a Warrior.

  3. No he didn't get traded. He was a restricted free-agent and Golden State offered him a contract. Lakers could have matched the offer but the "type" of contract offered made it difficult. Turiaf's offer was "front" based. Meaning he'd make more money this up-coming season and the salary will go down each season. Which is perfect for his style of play because he isn't gonna get better. LA simply couldn't afford to pay him 4 million for 2008-2009. So yes Turiaf now plays for Golden State.

Lakers did sign Josh Powell tho. Yahoo his game log. He should be able to fill Turiaf's role with no trouble.

  4. No Turiaf was a restricted free agent Golden State offered him an offersheet worth 17 million dollars for 4 years the lakers did not match the offersheet because they are over the cap

  5. umm...why am I here?

  6. Hey Matt,

No Former Laker Roni Turiaf who was a restricted free agent - meaning the Lakers had the option to match any contract that was offered to Turiaf was offered a 4yr $17 million contract by the Golden State Warriors.

Unfortunately because the Lakers were over the salary cap- you need to match dollar for dollar with how much you're over.

So basically since Golden State offered Turiaf $4.25 million a yr, for the Lakers to have kept Turiaf it would have cost them $8.5 million a yr.

Lakers fan love Roni, love the intensity, personality, and all the intangibles he brings- but at $8.5 million a year unfortunately was not worth to retain.  The Lakers recently signed Josh Powell to replaceTuriaf- but off course we'll miss Roni and Golden State gets a good player and a great person in Roni.
