Question:

Did the band Nickelback find religion or something?

I heard in the beginning of their career that their songs were about wife abuse and such things.. but now a lot of their new songs are really uplifting. Don't get me wrong... great at what they do either way. Just curious, does anyone know the story behind the change in lyrics?

  1. no they havent really found religion....

i guess its mainly just what happens as you grow up. Writing songs in your early/mid twenties might be a little different than when you write them in your thirties, in a long lasting and happy relationship...when life is just really good to you.

lead singer also writes for a lot of other bands aside from his own, so he tends to experiment quite a lot with styles changes.

next album is supposed to be kinda hard again, so it may not be as uplifting this time round....who knows.....but there was really no major event that caused it....just them trying out different stuff.

  2. Actually, they never in their career write about violence like wife abuse in a good way, but rather against it. Your probably thinking of this song that came out in 2001 called Never Again, which is about wife abuse, but how the wife stops it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgqLe93SO...

they also had a recent song called side of a bullet which dealt with the death of famous guitar player Dimebag Darrel. but yeah they've always had uplifting songs, always had songs which are hard to decipher, but no they never really changed their lyrics to be more uplifting. Its just almost all of their songs nowadays are made to connect with people, as they all have something that someone could of experienced in their life. hope this helped =)
