Did the free states, like most northern states, or states that came into the union as free states have to apologize too? And how about the representatives from states that weren't even states yet-were they able to sit this one out-"uh, we like, weren't there that day, so we don't have to take the test?"

  1. I think it was only the ones pandering to the African Americans for votes, when in reality they couldnt give a d**n about black people. You know-the likes of Nancy Pelosi.

  2. I agree it's ridiculous and a 100% Political Move .

  3. Just the House of Representatives ......... And I think it is really chintzy how they literally voted in secret.

Jul 29, 2008: This bill passed in the House of Representatives by voice vote. A record of each representative's position was not kept

  4. get over it already

  5. Listen None of us were even alive when slavery was sanctioned in this country. Lets just all get over it. The whole concept of apologizing for something that none of us were involved in is Idiotic.

  6. This was over 100 years ago!

I don't owe former slaves anything, their all DEAD.

  7. A black guy ran over my cat the other day, he apologized, but do I need to find his kids and grand-kids, aunts, uncles and the rest of the black neighborhood and take them to court and demand that they apologize too.  Get Real!

  8. I believe that no one ever really truly apologized, and in certain aspects slavery is still going on today. Not in the same way but in different aspects.

2ND they we supposed to get reparations of 40 acres and a mule, which over 100 years later still have not received. Where people we fought in wars received reparations for being held in camps. ( Meaning any apology was for show and not meaningful)

African Americans are still being oppressed and looked down upon, and until we come together as a nation no matter if it happened 200, 100 years or even yesterday, we need to stand up and apologize. We need to make it right, because or ANCESTORS did not!!!!!!!!!!

  9. at the gas station where i shop, on sunday, a black guy came in, shot the clerk dead, rode off on a bike, had a gun battle with the police and stole the police car, then shot himself behind the wheel of a moving car

as a person who's family has never lived in a slave state, i would like to apoligise for oppressing him
