  1. No, but the levees have been left without proper maintenance for too many years.  This was a particularly problem when the costs for the war sucked all the money out of domestic projects like upgrading the New Orleans levee system.

  2. I cant believe you even asked this question...why would conseratives blow up the bible belt that would be the Dems since they have little morals or values when it comes to GODS word.

  3. Now that I see as a real "tin foil hat" statement!

The levees collapsed because of many many years of pure neglect! These are nothing more than mounded and packed dirt and subject to every bad thing water can do to them.

    Nobody "blew up" the levees!

  4. Of course they did.  The floods have destroyed tens of thousands of acres of corn and wheat.  That will cause food and fuel prices to go even higher, thus sending the economy crashing just in time for the Democrats to catch the blame.

The Republicans have no delusions that they can win in November so they are setting up the Democrats for certain failure.

If you are going to start a conspiracy theory, let your imagination go crazy.

  5. Can I get a case of whatever it is you drink in the morning.

  6. yep, they sure did.

  7. Who needs explosives when the water level is higher than the levees?

Maybe you should take those pills your doctor gave you.

  8. The levies in New Orleans were breeched by the state and local governments, which is why they kept FEMA out so long, to get rid of the evidence.

  9. Yes they did.  Everyone better watch out because the government is going to kill us all!!!

I guess this just goes to show you that all states have problems keeping their infrastructure safe.  It isn't just the corrupt Louisiana government.

  10. Criminal Neglect and indifference =/= maliscious use of explosives

  11. Yes, but not for the reason you suggest. The Government breaches levees in areas with low income people and low property values to take pressure off of the levees in the high-rent districts. It is an inexact thing, so they don't always get it to work. But yes, levees are regularly breached (usually using standard excavation equipment, not explosives) in pre-selected areas. In New Orleans, the 9th. ward was selected as a target so that the properties could be purchased and "redeveloped", i.e. look for condos in that area surrounding those homes that are being repaired.
