  1. More than likely, no.  That steroid helps them heal faster, and isn't really given to them to make them stronger.

  2. It probably didn't make a huge difference, but must have had some effect.

I'm not sure where the report about the horse having his last injection on April 15 came from as the trainer was bragging about his steroid use after the KY Derby, which is in early May.

Just think - if you were taking a drug (which is what steroids are) once a week for about a year and then suddenly you stopped, your body would go into withdrawl and that must have some effect on your performance.

The sooner steroids and other medications are banned in American racing, the better.  They have no real use and are responsible for the weakening of the Thoroughbred breed as they mask problems that end up being bred into a new generation of horses.

I've said this before, I'll say it again - NO OTHER MAJOR THOROUGHBRED RACING COUNTRY PERMITS THE USE OF STEROIDS AT ALL!

  3. I don't think it did.  If you watch the horse, something was bothering him.  he was jerking his head a lot, and really fighting the jockey.  He got kicked, as well, and that may have messed with him.

  4. He recieved his last dose April 15th and while it does take a little while for steroids to leave the system, it means he ran without them in the Preakness and his performance there was stellar....I am not going to say again why I think Big Brown lost the race, if you want to know my opinion look it up in another one of the questions I answered, it's there several times.  But thank you for simply asking instead of accusing or mocking.  I only recently started posting here, but already I am sick of those that think they know more than they do.  It is refreshing to see your honestly asked question.

*Bangs her head against the desk as more people are sucked into the race fixing void *   I WILL NOT SAY THIS AGAIN.  The race was not fixed, the jockey made a stupid mistake, just not the one so many people think they saw, the jockey swung him out during the first turn and Big Brown ran most of the race 7 wide and when Kent asked for run at the final turn (tapped him twice with the whip) there was nothing there, Big Brown was backing down all on his own through the home stretch, all Kent did was stand in the stirrups and officially ask the horse to quit running after he had already lost the race.

  5. no - after i read an answer about big brown on another question - i watched the race clips three times, and big brown was in position to make his move thru most of the race (he was third). i noticed it looked like desormeaux was holding him back, pulling him up near the end of the race - that is when big brown started tossing his head - like he was trying to let him know - let me run. he lost the race because of desormeaux being too cautious (not necessarily a bad thing) or as some people have said - the race was thrown, as big brown was supposed to be a distance horse

  6. uhhhh yeah!!!! i guarantee all the other horses were on it
