Did the name Geurds come from Bavaria?

I got a Family Coat Of Arms made and it says the name Geurds originated in Germany. There are records back in the 1700's of Geurds in Bavaria. I just question how accurate the Coat Of Arms is. Does this make me of German descent?

  1. Start with the basic.

Family crests/ coats of arms NEVER belong to a family. They are awarded, only to single persons.. kind of like war medals. You don't pass war medals down to all descendants... only to one person.

The coat of arms probably is valid, but does not belong to you. I won't repeat names of scum companies that sell this stuff online, there are a lot of them.

Just because some Geurds were in Bavaria, does not mean anything, and does not make you German. YOU have to trace back from you, to the immigrant, and prove his place of birth. Your family could have been from somewhere else.. they don't tell you this. Why would they? they would lose a sale.

Sorry we did not get the chance to explain this before you spent money.

  2. The name Geurds is from the Netherlands (Holland).Maybe your ancestors migrated to Bavaria?
