  1. I cant tell you any sites, but I can tell you that these tools were indeed used in Ninjitsu.  The original throwing stars were more or less square pieces with highly sharpend corners.  Although the ninja wsa trained in close combat techniques with swords and knives.  Ninjas also employed a wide variety of poisons and halucenogens found in nature to immobilze, disorient or kill their victims.  Their most valuable asset was their stealth.

Check some hitorical references on ninjas and ninjitsu

  2. Yes they did. My Tae Kwon Do instructor was telling us about them weapons in class one time.

In ancient times, farmers took any thing they could get their hands on from the farm to use as a make shift weapon.

A sword for instance was  just a long piece of metal they sharpened up and put a handle on.

They used wooden boards for body armor. Then the enemies learned to break the boards with their fists to harm people.

That is why they started the tradition of breaking boards in martial arts classes, which they still do today.
