  1. absolutely not...the original inhabitants (greek cypriots) are from Greece...There are also some small minorities that come from armenia and turkey

  3. There isn't an easy answer to your question as it depends how far back you go!

    Cyprus was originally beneath the ocean and was formed when the African and Eurasian plates collided. The island was then occupied by countless different civilsations including the Mycenian Greeks from 1400BC.

    I don't suppose anyone knows who the first official inhabitants of the island were - probably too many conflicting stories  as to "claims" on the island dependent on who was invading at the time. But the history is fascinating nevertheless!

  7. No, some are from Turkey, some are from Greece and there are many immigrants. There are 2 sides now, the Turkish and the Greeks. Some came from Egypt, some from France etc., but the original inhabitants are from Greece.
